Former Red Robin in Orland Park Approved for CAVA Redevelopment

There's finally an approved plan for the old Red Robin on LaGrange Road in Orland Park.

On July 20, 2026, the Orland Park Village Board approved the redevelopment of the former restaurant at 15503 LaGrange Road. The proposal will bring a CAVA Mediterranean restaurant to the property, with space for a second business.

And here's something worth pointing out: the existing Red Robin building isn't being torn down. It's being renovated and divided into two commercial spaces.

Residents who have been wondering what's going into that vacant restaurant now have a much clearer picture. What we don't have yet is an official opening date.

Orland Park Approves the Former Red Robin Redevelopment

The project first went before the Orland Park Plan Commission on July 7, 2026. Commissioners reviewed the proposed exterior changes, building materials, landscaping, parking and other improvements.

The Commission voted unanimously, 6-0, to recommend approval.

On July 20, the Village Board approved the redevelopment petition, including a special-use permit for CAVA's outdoor dining area and a modification allowing the relocated trash enclosure within the street setback.

The plans call for several changes to the property:

• Renovating the existing restaurant building into two tenant spaces.
• Creating a new CAVA restaurant with an outdoor patio.
• Updating the building's exterior, including brick finishes.
• Improving landscaping around the property.
• Relocating the trash enclosure.
• Retaining the existing parking area, which the Plan Commission considered adequate for the proposed uses.

In other words, this isn't a complete teardown and rebuild. The property is being repurposed for a different mix of businesses.

Scout Veterinary Urgent Care Could Be the Second Tenant

CAVA isn't the only business being discussed for the property.

During the July 7 Plan Commission hearing, Scott Stefanik, a partner in the property, identified Scout Veterinary Urgent Care as the intended second tenant.

However, there's an important distinction between the two businesses.

Scout has not been approved through CAVA's redevelopment petition. Village Attorney Anne Skrodzki clarified during the hearing that animal services require a separate special-use permit in the property's COR (Regional Mixed-Use) zoning district.

That means a veterinary urgent care would need to go through its own municipal review and public hearing before receiving the necessary land-use approval.

So Scout is a proposed second occupant, not a confirmed opening.

When Will CAVA Open in Orland Park?

That's probably the question most people have.

As of October 24, 2026, an official opening date has not been confirmed.

The redevelopment has cleared the Village Board approval process, but I haven't verified a construction start date, issued building permits or a restaurant opening announcement.

Municipal approval is a significant step, but it doesn't mean the restaurant is ready to open. Interior construction, permits, inspections and tenant preparations may still need to be completed.

The Bottom Line

The former Red Robin on LaGrange Road is getting a second life.

Orland Park has approved plans to renovate the existing building for CAVA and another commercial tenant. Scout Veterinary Urgent Care has been identified as the prospective second business, although its proposed use still requires separate approval.

For now, the redevelopment is approved, but the opening timeline remains an unanswered question.
