Now plans are moving through the Village for a new standalone Legends building at 9720 W. 191st Street, next to the restaurant's existing Mokena location. If you've been to Legends Grill & Bar in Mokena, this isn't a story about a new restaurant coming to town.
It's about an existing Mokena restaurant potentially getting a completely new building.
Legends currently operates at 9710 W. 191st Street, where it has been serving Mokena for years.
Now a new standalone Legends restaurant is being proposed immediately nearby at 9720 W. 191st Street.
And the plans give us a pretty good idea of what the next version of Legends could look like.

Legends Is Already Part of Mokena
First, let's clear up the biggest potential point of confusion.
Legends Grill & Bar isn't a new restaurant entering the Mokena market.
The existing Legends at 9710 W. 191st Street is open today.
The restaurant's current website lists its Mokena location along with additional Legends locations in Woodridge and Yorkville.
The new proposal involves a separate standalone building at 9720 W. 191st Street, right next to the existing Mokena operation.

Legends describes itself as a family-owned and operated grill and bar.
The menu leans toward American bar-and-grill food, including burgers, wings, shrimp, sandwiches, flatbreads, tacos and other casual dining options.
The restaurant is particularly known for its jumbo wings and shrimp.
The current Mokena location generally opens at 11 a.m., with the bar staying open later than the kitchen and later hours on Friday and Saturday.

The new Legends proposal has moved beyond an informal idea.
Mokena's Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals held its regular meeting on September 17, 2026, as the project continued through the Village review process.
That still doesn't mean construction starts tomorrow.
Municipal development proposals typically move through planning review before the necessary Village approvals, permits and construction work are completed.
When Could the New Legends Open?
The working development timeline has called for a possible late-2026 groundbreaking.
If construction follows that schedule, the new restaurant could potentially open in spring or summer 2027.
As always with projects that haven't started construction, that should be treated as a target rather than a guaranteed opening date.
Permitting, final approvals, construction schedules and weather can all move the timeline.
Why This One Is Worth Watching
There's been a lot happening around the 191st Street and LaGrange Road area.
Some of it has involved entirely new businesses coming into Mokena.
This story is a little different.
It's an established restaurant apparently investing in a much more substantial standalone building almost right next door.
And that's usually a pretty good sign that a business intends to stick around.
