The Mokena Park District’s free Music and Movies in the Park series brings outdoor concerts and family-friendly movies to the Yunker Farm Bandshell throughout the summer. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and use the terraced grass seating surrounding the bandshell. Concerts begin at 7:00 p.m., while movies start at approximately 8:30 p.m. or once it becomes dark enough for viewing. In the event of bad weather, activities may be moved inside the Red Barn. Visitors should check the Mokena Park District website or Facebook page for weather updates and possible schedule changes. Prairie Station Prairie Station performs modern country hits from artists such as Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert, along with country favorites from Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, and others. Good Shepherd Center for Exceptional Children will host an adults-only country-themed fundraiser at Zachary’s Red Barn in Homer Glen. The evening will include live entertainment, dancing, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, local vendors, and beverages included with admission. Guests are encouraged to lean into the theme with boots, denim, cowboy hats, or a little extra sparkle. A food truck will also be available, with food sold separately. Proceeds will support Good Shepherd Center’s programs for children and young adults with and without disabilities, including early childhood education, after-school and summer programs, respite care, and family support services.
